In what has become an annual tradition, Jerry and Kathy Tobin presented a generous check to Shorty Koger of Shorty’s Caboy Hattery during the AQHA World Championship Show. The donation comes from a portion of their stallion’s (Allocate Your Assets) breeding fees for 2015, and the amount totaled $5,000 this year!

Each year, the funds donated go to the Rein In Cancer charity in the name of Koger’s late sister, Shirley Bowman. For those not familiar with Rein In Cancer, the Oklahoma-based 501-C3 corporation was created in January 2012 as a way to provide direct financial assistance to cancer patients who are actively involved in the horse industry. The group originally raised funds to create the Shirley Bowman Nutrition Center at the Charles and Peggy Stephenson Cancer Center in Oklahoma City. Co-founders include Shorty Koger, Tracie Anderson and Cheryl Magoteaux Cody.

To date, Rein In Cancer has raised over 1 million dollars and assisted cancer patients in need throughout 32 states and in Canada. In an effort to keep the donated funds in the horse community, recipients are members of the American Quarter Horse Association, the National Reining Horse Association, the National Reined Cow Horse Association and the National Cutting Horse Association.

allocate-your-assetsHorse shows around the country have participated in Rein In Cancer events such as Remington Park Betting on a Cure, the National Reined Cow Horse Association Snaffle Bit Futurity, the National Reining Horse Association Futurity, the All American Quarter Horse Congress, the National Reining Breeders Classic, March to the Arch, Arizona Sun Circuit and American Quarter Horse Association World Championship Show.

Allocate Your Assets is the beautiful, bay, 16.2 hand stallion by Protect Your Assets and out of the Thoroughbred mare Kat Sass. He is not only an Equi-Stat Leading Hunter Under Saddle sire, he has sired numerous AQHA World and Congress Champions. This year at the All American Quarter Horse Congress, “Al” sired seven Congress Champions, five Southern Belle Breeders’ Champions, nine Reserve Champions, one Reserve Southern Belle Breeders’ Champion, and 33 top ten finishes!
