Olin Parker’s win this afternoon in the Aged Mares class brings his barn’s title total up to ten thus far at the 2014 APHA World Championship Show. Parker was at the lead today for owner Stephanie Fimmen, who led “Erin” to a win in the amateur division of the class a few days ago.
Erin is a splashy, 4-year-old APHA mare by the World Champion AQHA stud, Mr Im Kiddin, and out of a mare by the World Champion APHA stallion, Fancy Me A Sockett.
“We bought her when she was a long yearling,” Parker says. “We’ve shown her here, and she has won as a two-year-old mare, three-year-old mare, and now as an aged mare.”
“I think her best attributes are that she continues to stay looking fresh and young, her shoulder lays perfectly, she has a very prominent wither, a strong back, and a strong loin with great hocks. She always looks young, and she’s very pretty. Matter of fact, three of the judges said how pretty she looked today, and I think that’s what does it. She never gets old looking or coarse.”
Now that she’s concluded her journey here at the APHA World Show, Erin is headed home for a little rest and relaxation. She might even try making a few mini-Replicas of her very own.
“We’re going to take her home and break her to ride,” Parker says. “We will breed her this year and maybe raise a baby or two out of her. Stephanie has a little boy named Rocko, who seems to show some interest in horses. After a couple years of having babies and being a horse for a while, we will bring her back for him to show.”
Congratulations to the Olin Parker team on having such a successful APHA World Show thus far!
