Tonight was the cap on a golden year for Aaron Moses, who won his first AQHA World Championship title aboard A Diva By Moonlight in Senior Western Pleasure for Jeri Lockwood. Just a few weeks ago, Aaron rode the 9-year-old mare to win Senior Western Pleasure at the Quarter Horse Congress. He also won The Equine Chronicle Congress Masters 2-Year-Old Maiden Western Pleasure with VS The First Lady.
“It’s been incredible,” he says. “If I were to have hoped for a great year, it wouldn’t have been as good as this. It’s been amazing.”
Aaron and Miss Moonlight have only been a team since August, just after the NSBA World Show, but they’ve already quickly formed a solid partnership.
“I think she’s really consistent,” Aaron says. “There’s not a lot of extra motion. It just looks easy for her. She’s really steady in her topline. She’s really cute in the pen, and that’s what they like.”
Coming up next, Aaron also has a 2-year-old and junior horse he will show later in the week.
Given the spectacular year Aaron’s had so far, in this, his first year operating his own training business, there are a few people he’d like to thank. “I’d like to thank the Lord, first of all; because, without him, nothing in my life would be here. I want to thank my family and my girlfriend, Courtney, the owner of the horse, Gil and Becky Galyean, and many others who have helped me. There are too many to count.”
The Reserve Champion was Jay Starnes with Extremely Hot Chips. Third was Maggie Grandquist with Rock County Kid. Fourth was Wade Black with KM Call Me Honey. Fifth was Cole Baker with Consider Me Best.
