Mallory Myers, Gentry Cherry, and Kristin Hull Dominate Over Fence Classes at 2013 AQHYA World Show

The ladies dominated the Over Fence classes today at the 2013 AQHYA World Show with style, soaring over spreads, obliterating oxers, and defeating tough triple combinations.

Winning the first class of the day was Gentry Cherry, who piloted Imasgoodasitgets, a black gelding by Invitation Only and out of Spotted Daisy, to a win in Equitation Over Fences. Not only was Cherry named the World Champion, she was also named the first place Intermediate rider and first place 13 and Under rider.

Coming in Reserve in this class was Mallory Myers with Stroke For Stroke, a brown gelding by Stroke Of Luke and out of Beasweet Surprise. Rounding out the top three was Alexis Parisek aboard Slow N Natural, a sorrel gelding by Natural Iron and out of Secret Lil.

Mallory Myers returned in the Working Hunter finals aboard Stroke For Stroke and this time claimed the golden trophy and World Championship title. Alexis Parisek and Slow N Natural moved up to Reserve in this class, and Nicholas Furlong rode Executive Hotrodder, a bay gelding by Jet Set Hotrodder and out of Super Ruckus, to a third place finish.

But Myers didn’t call it a day with her one Reserve World Championship and one World Championship. She returned for the Jumping finals, this time on Darn That Kat, a gray gelding by Kat Man Zip and out of Devin’s Belle, to claim her second World Championship of the day. The battle was hard fought and with several clean rounds seven talented riders made for a nail-biting jump-off.

The Reserve World Champion in the class was Annamarie Glenn aboard Cavalark, a sorrel mare by Larks Best Reason and out of Cavalero Hill. Rounding out the top three was Kirsten Nelson with Silver Cash Equity, a gray mare by Justa Star Equity and out of Miss Delighted Cash.

Winning the Hunter Hack was Kristin Hull aboard Into The Blue, a gray gelding by Skys Blue Boy and out of Karaoke Ave. The Reserve Champion was Amanda Myers with You’ve Got A Prince, a bay gelding by Do You Have A Minute and out of The Town Princess. Third place was Alexis Parisek riding Slow N Natural.

We chatted with one of the winners, Mallory Myers, who concluded the day by winning two World Championship titles and one Reserve World Championship with her horses, Stroke For Stroke and Darn That Kat.

“My first ride was on Arnold [Stroke For Stroke] in the [Equitation Over Fences and] Working Hunter,” she says. “He’s been a really good horse lately. My trainer, Alfred Hewitt, has been a lot of help with preparing him and making him be really good for this show. He was pretty much perfect in the ring. I thought I had a good ride, but I didn’t expect this!”

“My second ride was with Darn That Kat. He’s been a lot of fun. We’ve had him for a long time. He’s been in our family for a while. We have all rode him and done really well with him. I didn’t expect that many to come back [to the jump-off]. Usually, it’s only three or four, so it was definitely scary. It got us going, and we tried to get a really good time on the first one. Sylvester is really good at turning, so we tried to make as tight of turns as we could.”

Congratulations to all of the brave exhibitors who competed today in the Over Fence classes at the 2013 AQHYA World Show.
