Two Tons of Aid Delivered to Animal Victims of California Wildfires

Filed under: Breaking News,The Buzz |

GRIDLEY, CALIFORNIA, December 3, 2018 – American Humane, the country’s first national humane organization, and Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food delivered tons of aid (literally) in the form of much-needed nutritious food to animals displaced by California’s deadly Camp Fire. A truck filled with premium Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food dropped off the donation in conjunction with the relief effort in which American Humane is assisting The Red Cross with a co-location shelter for displaced families with their animals.

The Red Cross has set up sheltering accommodations and services for the human shelter, and American Humane has set up sheltering accommodations for approximately 100 animals. The food will be used to sustain pets of Red Cross clients that come into the human shelter. Surplus food will be distributed to local families with pets in need.

This is the latest donation in an ambitious national campaign called “Fill-a-Bowl… Feed-a-Soul™” to help care for shelter pets waiting for their forever homes. Together, American Humane and Chicken Soup for the Soul are distributing more than one million meals annually of all-natural Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food to U.S. shelters and pet food distribution centers, which house, feed and care for millions of animals each year.

“Butte County is tremendously grateful to American Humane and Chicken Soup for the Soul for this generous donation,” said Ryan Soulsby, Animal Control Program Supervisor for Butte County Animal Control. “This donated food will help sustain many animals in need here in our community.”

“We salute how the rescue groups, Butte County Animal Control, NVADG, and the community have come together to provide lifesaving assistance for each other and their pets,” said Dr. Robin Ganzert, president and CEO of American Humane. “And on behalf of these hungry, frightened animals who have been through so much with their families, we want to express our deep appreciation to our friends at Chicken Soup for the Soul. Thank you!”

Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food CEO Chris Mitchell said, “We’re pleased that we can provide assistance to animals in need and we are glad to be working with American Humane on this vital campaign that will save so many lives.”
