ApHC Names Winners of Art, Photography, Essay, and Scholarship Contests

Art Contest Results

 Moscow, Idaho—The Appaloosa Youth Association (AYA) has concluded the judging of the 2018 Youth Art Contest. Youth compete in three divisions (10 & under, 11-13 and 14-18) to showcase their artistic creativity and talent. Cash prizes are awarded to the winners in each category, along with having their artwork showcased at the Youth World Championship Appaloosa Show in Fort Worth, Texas and receiving recognition in the Appaloosa Journal—the official publication of the Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC). The AYA is pleased to announce the following youth as this year’s AYA Art Contest winners:

10 & Under

• 1^stPlace- Adam Ryun, age 9, of Woodworth, ND
• 2^ndPlace- Kaitlyn Ryun, age 7, of Woodworth, ND
• 3^rdPlace- Regina Dougherty, age 7, of Belmont, NY

11-13

• 1^stand 2^nd Place- Evelyn Grace Albury, age 12, of Raleigh, NC
• 3^rdPlace- Mary Halina Nowicki, age 13, of Jacksonville, FL

14-18

• 1^stPlace- Hannah Hamilton, age 14, of Hillsboro, OR
• 2^ndPlace- Abigail Leopold, age 17, of Labadie, MO

 

Essay Contest Results

The Appaloosa Youth Association (AYA) in conjunction with Appaloosa Journal—the official publication of the Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC), has concluded the judging of the 2018 Youth Essay Contest. Youth compete in two divisions (13 & under and 14-18) to showcase their writing talents. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three winners in each age division and the 1^stplace winner of each division will receive a one year subscription to the Appaloosa Journal along with having their essay published in the magazine. The AYA is pleased to announce the following youth as this year’s AYA Essay Contest winners:

14-18

Photography Contest Results

The Appaloosa Youth Association (AYA) in conjunction with Larry Williams Photography has concluded the judging of the 2018 Youth Photography Contest. Youth compete in three divisions (13 & under, and 14-18) to showcase their photography talents. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three winners in each age division and the 1^stplace winner of each division will receive a one year subscription to the Appaloosa Journal—the official publication of the Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC). The winners will also receive recognition for their achievement in the Appaloosa Journal. The AYA is pleased to announce the following youth as this year’s AYA Photography Contest winners:

Scholarship Contest Results

The Appaloosa Youth Foundation (AYF) accepts applications for scholarships on an annual basis. Each year applications are accepted from youth who meet the specified criteria for eight different scholarships. The AYF is pleased to announce this year’s recipients in the following scholarship categories:

Territory Scholarship

The Territory Scholarship awards up to six scholarships, in the amount of $1000.00 each. Scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors who are current members of the Appaloosa Youth Association. The 2018 Territory Scholarship winners are as follows:

 

• Territory II- Hailey L. Powers, Oakley, CA
• Territory III- Jordan Olson, St. John, IN
• Territory IV- Macy Mentz, Folsom, LA
• Territory V- Morgan Strickler, Stephens City, VA
• Territory VI- Kennedy Ekovich, Mason, MI

Continuing Education Scholarship

The Continuing Education Scholarship is awarded in the amount of $1000.00 to one college student who will be continuing their education in the fall as a first or second semester sophomore. This year’s Continuing Education Scholarship recipient is:

• Madison Purvis, Flemingsburg, KY
