We chatted with Hannah to find out more about her multi-talented horse, “Percy,” who is competing at his first AQHA World Show. “I started doing USEF on him and competing at a few local shows. This year, I’ve been more focused on getting him on the AQHA circuit. This is his first World Show and my first win in the open division.”
Hannah describes herself as a do-it-yourself competitor, hence the reason why she opted to show her horses in the open classes here at the World Show, instead of her trainers, David Miller and Scott Jones of Showstring. “I like doing everything myself. I’ve learned that it’s easier to learn how to do it yourself, rather than having someone just get on and do it for you.”
“David is wonderful at helping me with my green horses and my older horses, as far as how to get them to have better show presence when jumping and working on my body position. Scott is amazing at flat work, and he has helped with getting my horses more broke, the correct way, rather than forcing them into doing something.”
Coming up next, Hannah and Percy will compete in the Junior Hunter Hack L3 finals. She also plans to show her other horse, DoYou Have TheMagic, in Senior Hunter Hack, Amateur Equitation Over Fences, Amateur Hunter Hack, and Amateur Working Hunter.
