This morning, Halter champions at the 2017 All American Quarter Horse Congress were awarded with big checks and great prizes during the Elite Halter Futurity Amateur Mares classes. First up, Amanda Wallinger- Rowan led Dimplez to win Amateur Weanling Fillies in the Open division, Limited division, AND the Elite Halter Futurity, taking home a check for $2,500. Add that to the $3,500 Amanda’s trainer, Chris Arentsen, won in the Open division last week and this pretty filly has had quite a week’s payoff!
“This was first time I’ve showed her today, so I was so nervous,” Amanda says. “My trainer, Chris Arentsen, has been doing so well with her, so I didn’t want to mess up any momentum he had going. He won the Open Weanling Fillies, Limited, and Elite Halter Futurity here, and earlier this year he won Open Senior Fillies at Breeders’ Halter Futurity.”
“With the $2,500 we won today, and the $3,500 Chris won, she paid for her trip!”
Making this win even more special is the fact that Dimplez is by Amanda’s stallion, Acoolest Touchdown, and out of a daughter of Kid Coolsified. “Her dad throws classy babies that are pretty and grab your attention. She has that look, the body… she has it all. Now, we’re on to the World Show!”
The Reserve Champion in Amateur Open Weanling Fillies was Josh Weakly with Fantasyz. Third was Dillon Groff with JCG Hold Me Closer. Fourth was Robin Robinett with TNR Dee Lish. Fifth was Elizabeth Thompson Beauchamp with Emarkable.
Next up, Jennifer Jubb was named the unanimous champion with Hip Hip Haray in Amateur Yearling Fillies Open, Limited, AND the Elite Halter Futurity. This beautiful mare is by Hesa Secret Agent and out of Fearlicious, by Fearles.
“She was bred by the incomparable, Clark Rassi, and Tom Robertson found her for me at Dick and Trent Adams, when she was just a baby filly,” Jennifer says. “We bought her there and brought her to Tom’s. She won the Congress last year in Open Weanling Fillies and was bronze at the World Show.”
“This year, we’ve had a tremendous Congress week. Tom was unanimous in Open Yearling Fillies. Then, coming back today, most of my family is here: my husband of 34 years who has supported me in all of this, Ricky Young, and my oldest daughter, who has shown horses with me all her life, and her three children.”
Jennifer was very excited to receive a $1,250 check from the Elite Halter Futurity as well as a stunning trophy buckle, sponsored by Thomas and Mimsi Coon, and presented by class sponsor, Steve and Kathy Headley, who happen to own this filly’s sire, Heza Secret Agent. “It’s on to the World Show from here!” Jennifer says.
The Reserve Champion was Thomas Coon with Inexces. Third was Steven Britt with Te Coolest Intent. Fourth was Gigi Davis with Intended. Fifth was Joy Stehney with Cool E.
