The first three Horsemanship World Champions have been crowned today at the 2016 AjPHA Youth World Championship Show. First, Isabella Applegarth rode OneSensationalCowgirl to win Novice Youth Horsemanship 14-18. The Reserve Champion was Amanda Nelson with Mr Verifiable. Third place was Alexis Solakian with Devil Drives A Hotrod. Fourth place was Ellie Becker with Too Hot To. Fifth was Briar Lopez with Isn’t She So Tuff.

This is Isabella’s first time at the AjPHA Youth World Show and she’s already won three buckles! Earlier today she was Reserve in Novice Youth 14-18 Trail and Reserve in Novice Youth 14-18 Showmanship.

This 16-year-old equestrienne and her horse “Pumpkin” currently compete under the guidance of Carly Veldman Parks and Wade Parks.

“I really started showing Paint Horses last year, but I wasn’t really serious about it until this year with Pumpkin. This is also my 8th year doing 4H.”

“Pumpkin is so gentle. She’s such a sweet horse; she always comes up to you and puts her nose on you!”

Although Applegarth enjoys Horsemanship, she says her favorite class would have to be Trail. But in this particular Horsemanship pattern, there were a few fun maneuvers. “I think one of my best parts was the extended jog. Also, I thought the walk to turn to back up was kind of fun. It flowed.”

Tomorrow, this pair will compete in their last class, Western Pleasure.

In Novice Youth Horsemanship 13 and Under, Karlee Shiery rode her colorful gelding, TC Hummer, to her first AjPHA Youth World title. Both Karlee and “Hummer” are 12 years old. They currently compete under the guidance of trainer Heather Brower and have done so for six years. “What’s funny is Heather took me in my first Leadline class when I was four!” Karlee says.

“We used to show Quarter Horses, but I wanted to show Paint Horses. Hummer was the first Paint Horse we looked at, and I wanted him. I didn’t want any other horse. My mom actually bought him that day.”

Karlee’s favorite classes to compete in are Western Riding and Western Pleasure. Just yesterday, she placed Reserve in Western Riding and earlier in the show they were third in Showmanship and Reserve in Equitation.

This is only Karlee’s second year competing at the Youth World Show. Last week, the duo went to the Pinto World Show where they won Novice Youth Highpoint title and were Reserve Highpoint in 13 and under.

Finally, the adorable Ady Kallay from Canada was named the World Champion in Walk-Trot Horsemanship with her horse, Ima White Sensation, aka “Casper.” We did a video interview with Ady a few days ago when she won Equitation and was Reserve in Showmanship. Click here to view.

The Reserve Champion was Cara Christensen with Slightly Fancy. Third was Haley Thomas with Short Bruiser. Fourth was Taylor Phalen with Nobody But Me. Fifth was Emily Miller with Who Painted Me.
