Yes – horse shows can be really serious. But, when the equestrian community throws a party, we go all out. The Progressive dinner here at the Redbud was super SPECTACULAR. The event helped raise money for the OQHA. There was a silent auction and tons of activities.
Many of the competitors, trainers, parents, workers, and kids joined in on the fun. From the great cupcakes, candy, and competitions to skateboarding, volleyball, live music, dancing and hanging with friends there was a ton of action packed into just a couple of hours.
The Leadline contest was won by Team Oklahoma. I loved their interpretation of the current Presidential race. We got to see Hillary and Trump ride last night. The secret service was even there. “Hillary Clinton” was really going for it, but “The Donald” took a more laid back approach. They had everyone roaring with laughter. Another team took on a Hawaiian theme and the Walquist bunch showed up as the Jolly Green Giant. The competition was a real crowd pleaser.
As you all know, showing horses, while fun, can be very stressful. This was a wonderful time unwinding with our horse show community. It’s good to laugh, play, and spend quality time hanging out together.
Also, a real hit of the evening was the dog races. I swear some of those little guys spread wings! Have you ever noticed that people with the biggest horses usually have the smallest dogs? Fast ones too as displayed last night.
Thanks again Oklahoma Quarter Horse Association for hosting such a fun party. It was a night in horse show heaven!
