2016 Hylton Maiden 3 and Over Western Pleasure Brings the Big Bucks

In 2015, the Hylton Maiden 3-Year-Old and Over Western Pleasure paid out more money than any similar futurity class, a whopping $91,500. This year, $50,000 in added money will be put into the jackpot, making it a can’t-miss event for those looking to start the futurity season with a bang.
The Hylton Maiden concept was first introduced by renowned AQHA breeder and stallion owner Cecilia Hylton to provide an incentive for those who chose to wait to develop their futurity horses until they reached a reasonable level of physical and emotional maturity. A number of exceptional horses and riders have been honored over the years, including the following.
Taft Dickerson
2015 Champion– Taft Dickerson with Made By J, owned by Dr. Candice Hall and Corey Seebach.
Randy Wilson
2014 Champion– Randy Wilson with Certainly On Sundi, owned by Byron Parsons.
Jay Starnes
2013 Champion– Jay Starnes with Zip By Machine, owned by Ray Burkhart.
Kristy Starnes
2012 Champion– Kristy Starnes with Zippin Hot Machine, owned by Ray Burkhart.
Brian Baker
2011 Champion– Brian Baker with Only A Summer Breeze, owned by Dan and Kathryn Frederick.
The Hylton Maiden Western Pleasure will take place, like it has in the past, at the Virginia Quarter Horse Classic in Lexington, Virginia, April 7th-10th. Judges for the show will be Casey and April Devitt, Brad Kearns, Jeff Allen, Rick Christy, and Ryan Kail.
The projected payout for 2016 is estimated to award $31,500 to the winner with $11,570 for Reserve and $8,455 for third.

When calculated on a 20-entry average, even tenth place will recoup the $1,500 entry fee. Entries are due by March 12th; however, horses may be entered up until Friday, April 8th at 5:00 pm for a $500 late fee.
In addition to the jackpot, a $6,000 bonus will be awarded to the Highest Placing Intermediate Rider in the class and a $4,000 bonus will be awarded to the Highest Placing Limited Rider.
