Today’s Congress classes include a mixed bag of Hunter Under Saddle, Western Pleasure, Western Riding, Equitation, and of course The Equine Chronicle Masters 2-Year-Old classes! First up this morning, Mrs. Vickie Shriver rode This Art To Be Good to a big win in Amateur Select Hunter Under Saddle.
This is Vickie and her 8-year-old gelding “AJ’s” second trip to the Congress. Recently, the pair competed at the Select World Show where they placed third in Hunter Under Saddle.
AJ is by Good Terms and out of an Art I Sweet mare. One of Vickie’s favorite things about AJ is his sweet personality. “His disposition is my favorite thing about him. He is a sweetheart. I have some health problem and he just canters me around. I felt my first go was ok, but I wasn’t that pleased with it. For my second go, [my trainer] Beckey Schooler told me go for it, so I did and he was really good!”
“I wanted to make the cut, and I was hoping to make top ten. This exceeded my expectations. I was very pleased!”
