“The 50th Annual Congress Super Sale featured the New Yearling Sale Stakes Session, which was met with a lot of enthusiasm and support,” says Mike Jennings of Professional Horse Services, LLC. “With 105 yearling Western Pleasure prospects entered, the response from sellers was better than we expected. Buyers supported the Yearling Sale Stakes session, as well, by helping the session average  $7,858, which is an increase of 15% over the $6,720 average for yearlings last year. More than 80 yearlings are paid into the Sale Stakes, so the estimated purse for the 2017 classes should be in excess of $60,000. Open and Non Pro divisions will be held for 2 year-old Western Pleasure horses. The purse will be pro-rated based on the number of entries in each division.”

The 2016 Congress Super Sale was held as part of the 50th Annual All American Quarter Horse Congress.  Mike and Stephanie Jennings of Professional Horse Services, LLC in Round Hill, Virginia, are the management team producing the Congress Super Sale for the OQHA.

At a sale price of $43,000, Hip # 51, Do Ya Dream Of Me was the overall High Selling horse and also the High Seller for the Yearling Sale Stake session. The 2015 gray mare sired by Im A Platinum Dream and out of One Classy Loper, a full sister to A Certain Vino, sold to Magnuson Farm, LLC in Minnesota. The seller was Dale Livingston, acting as agent for Matthew Hagee.

The Open Session offered 61 horses through the sale ring, from which 47 sold to new owners for an average price of $6,170.  The completed sales rate of 77% is strong for consignment auctions.

The High Selling Horse in the Open session of the Congress Super Sale at $18,000, was Hip # 160, WhenOnlyTheBestWilDu, a 2013 black gelding sired by Rl Best Of Sudden and out of Only Hot Cowboys.  The fancy  all-around prospect was purchased by Josie Stemmler, from Ontario, Canada, from Shane Pope, acting as agent for Cathy Corrigan Frank.

The 2016 Blair Folck Memorial Leading Consignor Award, sponsored by FarmVet was won by Voge Quarter Horses, Julie and Dr. Justin Voge, Whitesboro, TX, by posting gross sales of $68,000 for their group of Yearling Sales Stakes entries.

Rod’s Western Palace annually awards a saddle to the High Point Earning horse, which sold in the previous year’s Congress Super Sale.  The 2015 Congress Super Sale High Point award was won by Sharon Fisk, of Seekonk, MA, with the horse she purchased, Images Pretty Kitty.  Since the Congress Super Sale last year, the mare has earned over 150 points and is currently the Leading Open Performance Halter Mare in  AQHA national standings.  Images Pretty Kitty was consigned to the 2015 Congress Super Sale by Susan Sumpter of Farmersville, OH
