Harris ChallengeBy: Brittany Bevis

The 2016 Tom Powers Triple Challenge Futurity is fast approaching, June 29-July 3, in Berrien Springs, Michigan, and with a new schedule hosting futurity classes over five days there will be plenty of opportunity to earn cold, hard cash. Judges for the Futurity will be Sissy Anderson, Tony Burris, Jerry Erickson, and Judd Paul.

Just like last year, the 2-Year-Old Sale Stakes is one of the main events on the schedule; last year, it payed $60,000 to the 25 exhibitors who competed. This year, there is a special bonus courtesy of Harris Leather and Silverworks.

Introducing the $4,000 Harris Challenge!

The requirements are simple. All you have to do is ride in a beautiful Harris saddle during the 2-Year-Old Sale Stakes class for the chance to win a share of $4,000. How?

The winning Open Rider in the 2-Year-Old Sale Stakes class will win an additional $3,000 if he or she rides in a Harris saddle. The winning Limited Rider will win an additional $1,000 if he or she rides in a Harris saddle. It’s that simple!

Also returning from last year is the Stakes Sale and BBQ on July 2nd that’s sponsored by Game Time Sports Medicine and Dr. Brad Cumper. In addition, NSBA will bring their popular Pony Pleasure class to raise funds for the NSBA Trainer’s Crisis Fund.

Finally, the Western Pleasure Super Sires classes will be making an appearance once again in 2016 with a brand new class, the Sante Medical Aesthetics Non Pro Yearling Longe Line where $5,000 will be awarded to the winner. Also, two classes The Equine Chronicle is very proud to sponsor are the Equine Chronicle Non-Pro Open 3-Year-Old Western Pleasure and Equine Chronicle Non Pro Limited 3-Year-Old Western Pleasure. In each class, $10,000 is guaranteed to first place! The Western Pleasure Super Sires program has awarded over $219,000 in just three years.

Stay tuned to EquineChronicle.com for exciting new details about the WPSS classes in the coming weeks before the show…
