The open barrel race held in conjunction with the Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show returns in 2018. A $3,000-added open 5D barrel race, open to anyone, is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, in Barn 8 at State Fair Park.
Produced by Tri K Barrels, the race will include a $2,500-added open 5D race, a $500-added AQHA side pot and a variety of AQHA-approved classes, including senior, junior, youth, amateur and Select amateur barrel racing. The race is pending approvals by AQHA, Better Barrel Races, the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association and the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Association.

To be eligible for the AQHA side pot, a rider must be entered in the open 5-D and be a current AQHA member riding a registered American Quarter Horse. Riders do not have to be entered in AQHA classes to be eligible for the side pot. If you don’t have an AQHA membership or you need to renew, an AQHA representative will be on site to help you.
