3-Year-Old Western Pleasure Stakes Returns to AQHA World Show

The 3-year-old Western Pleasure stakes, sponsored by Rusty and Katie Green, returns to the 2021 Farnam AQHA World Championship Show and AQHA Select World Championship Show, presented by Adequan® (polysulfated glycosaminoglycan), October 28 – November 20 at the OKC Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City.

Watch as some of the best 3-year-old western pleasure horses in the country compete with their Level 3 and Adequan® Level 2 exhibitors. Thanks to the generosity of the sponsor, Rusty and Katie Green of Ocala, Florida, $5,000 will be added to the class payouts.

The 3-year-old western pleasure horse is of importance, because while a horse might not have the experience to be competitive in November each year with junior horses, predominantly 4- and 5-year-olds, getting a look at what the future may be for these horses is of interest to owners, exhibitors, and future buyers. The 3-year-old western pleasure stakes $5,000 added money is split equally between Level 3 and Adequan® Level 2 exhibitors. The entry fee is $400, with $300 returned to the purse. Entry fees paid will accrue directly to the purses for the Level 3 or Adequan® Level 2 exhibitors. At time of entry, exhibitors will declare which level they will compete in to determine payouts. The 3-year-old western pleasure stakes will be run concurrently if 20 or fewer total horses are checked in and shown. If more than 20 horses are checked in and shown, the class will be split into Level 3 and Adequan® Level 2 entries. In both cases, Level 3 and Adequan® Level 2 placings and payouts will be separate.

Exhibitors can choose to compete in only the 3-year-old western pleasure stakes, or also enter the Western Pleasure Challenge, to earn more money at no additional cost. View more details about the Western Pleasure Challenge.
