The Youth of the Year Award recognizes youth who demonstrate dedication through volunteer work for a worthy cause. The award is designed to reward NSBYA members who actively participate in a service project or volunteerism. Their service can be for an equine or a local community organization. The purpose is to promote and celebrate service work in our youth.

Continue reading …“The first person to call about the papers gave us a registration number that did not match the name of the horse on the papers,” Janet says. “When we tried to look the horse up by the name, we did not have any horses registered with that name. We had him e-mail us a copy of the papers, and it was clearly an altered document. We believe this to be an internet scam to get money out of people. The scammer is requesting a deposit from people to either hold the horse for them, or to deliver the horse.”

When Snap It Send It, a 2016 AQHA gray mare, entered Kent Ray Taylor’s life, she seemed destined to make his dreams come true. Imagine a horse so special that, despite a 2020 show season cut short due to the pandemic, she garnered enough points and futurity money to win the title of NSBA Horse of the Year. That mare is “Bailee,” a horse worthy of being crowned Kent Ray’s unicorn.

While some evidence suggests there also is an association between the two in horses, it has not been fully explored. The main therapy to treat asthma is corticosteroids, but for obese horses those come with a concern for complications, such as laminitis.
