2019 NSBA Fun In The Sun Complete Wrap Up

Taking place in conjunction with the Fox Lea Farm Winter Circuit, January 7-13 in Venice, Florida, was the NSBA Fun In The Sun Extravaganza. With a full lineup of futurities in disciplines ranging from Western Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle to Trail and Western Riding, there was a chance for everyone to win a big check!

Winning the All Age Novice Non Pro Western Pleasure was Jaida Dreyer with A Slow Martini, who received $144. The Reserve Champion was Nettie Olsen with Million To 1 winning $108. Third place was Katherine Crowe with Barry Barry Good winning $72.

The winner of the Select Western Pleasure Futurity was Melissa Wilkes with VS Code Me Lucky, who received $541.80. The Reserve Champion was Susan Juroe with Lope With Grace winning $425.70. Third place was Michael Hershberger with Do I Look Lazy winning $328.95.

Karen Hornick rode A Slow Martini to win Green Western Pleasure and $277 for Jaida Dreyer. The Reserve Champion was Aaron Moses with Snap It Send It winning $207.75 for Twylla Brown. Third was Elizabeth Baker with Velvet Rush winning $138.50 for Amy Brosch.

The 4 and Over Novice Horse Trail Champion was Torey Roderick with Figured Im Invited, who received $548.80 for Marie-France D’hondt. The Reserve Champion was Martin Doustou with Only The Good Kind winning $377.30 for Barbara Williams. Third was Shannon Vroegh with Dreamin With Me winning $325.85 for Laurie Rutledge.

Torey Roderick and Figured Im Invited won $598 in Green Trail for Marie France d’Hondt. The Reserve Champion was Jonathan Meilleur with I Am The Party winning $448.50 for Dr. Ted Filandrianos. Third was Shannon Vroegh with Im Fun Sized winning $299 for Ronda Roozeboom.

Torey Roderick won yet another Trail class in the Junior division with Figured I’m Invited taking home $263.50. The Reserve Champion was Whitney Lagace with Tipsy On Margaritas winning $209.25 for Libby Rinder. Third was Nick Mayabb with Feeling Lazy winning $155 for Angela and Brian Stanhope.

Winning Novice Amateur Select Trail was Renee Morgenstern with One Hot Good Bar taking home a check for $299. The Reserve Champion was Brian Stanhope with Don’t Skip Will winning $149.50. Third place was Angela Stanhope with Good As Expected taking home $74.75.

Winning the Open Maturity Hunter Under Saddle was Dawn Baker with Just Kruzin taking home $286.88 for Jennifer Bennett. The Reserve Champion was Ryan Painter with Me and My Assets winning $223.13 for Erin Shapiro Boatwright. Third was Keith Miller with Was Meant To Be winning $127.50 for Georgia Vernal.

The winner of 3-Year-Old Open Hunter Under Saddle was Keith Miller with Blue Sky Enterprise, who received $598.50 for Capall Creek Farms, Inc. The Reserve Champion was Dawn Baker with Onn Cloud Nine winning $465.50 for Beth Hartman. Third was Elizabeth Baker with Heavenwillhavetowait winning $266 for Richard and Elise Cognetti.

The winner of 3-Year-Old Limited Open Hunter Under Saddle was Vicky Holt Parker with Rock Paper Sizzors, who received $286.88 for Magnuson Farms. The Reserve Champion spot was a tie between Taylor Thayer with Old Southern Money for Lisa Benson and Lauren Louw with Born Southern for Melissa Hendrix, both taking home $175.31.

Winning 3-Year-Old Non Pro Hunter Under Saddle was Haley Hartman with Onn Cloud Nine, who received $349.50. The Reserve Champion was Amy Darnell Fobbe with Sittin On Kruze winning $233 for Anita Darnell. Third was Meghan Tierney with Born Southern.

The Non Pro Hunter Under Saddle Maturity was won by Erin Shapiro Boatwright with Me And My Assets. They received $732. The Reserve Champion was Millie Landon with Only After You winning $488. Third was Anna Cooper with Shot of Potential. The limited division placings were the same.

The Maturity Open Western Pleasure Championship came down to a three-way tie between Brian Baker with No Doubting Me for Sue Sancken, Aaron Moses with Lope With Grace for Susan Juroe, and Kenny Lakins with Lazy Holla Dayz with Shawn Johnson. The payouts were $672.75, $1,172.75, and $672.75, respectively.

The 3-Year-Old Open Western Pleasure Champion was Jamie English with Batters Up winning $554 for Stanley and Susan Scott, LLC. The Reserve Champion was Kristy Starnes with Whoose On First winning $415.50 for Nettie Olsen. Third was Katy Jo Zuidema with Shootin The Breeze winning $277 for Kathryn Frederick.

The All Age Limited Non Pro Western Pleasure was won by Susan Juroe with Lope With Grace, who received $282.20. The Reserve Champion was Blakely Abbott with Made Just Right winning $224.10. Third was Jr Cook with Consider Me Best winning $166.

The 3-Year-Old Non Pro Western Pleasure was won by Nancy Wilkerson-Ditty Batters Up. The team received $299.25. The Reserve Champion was Cheryl Mullikin with Ona Moonlite Bay winning $232.75. Third was a tie between Courtney Moses with Madeonna and Katherine Crowe with Barry Barry Good, both winning $66.50.

The Non Pro Western Pleasure Maturity was won by Shawn Johnson with Lazy Holla Dayz taking home $598.50. The Reserve Champion was Melissa Wilkes with VS Code Me Lucky winning $465.50. Third was Clay Arrington with Get Radical In My RV winning $266.

The Maturity Limited Open Western Pleasure was won by Carmen Mayabb with Made Just Right winning $564.40  for Patricia Abbott. The Reserve Champion spot was a tie between Sean Knowles with Willy A Diamond for Ryan Flowers and Jamie Wilson with KM Custom Made Best for Mary Powers, both receiving $390.10.

The 3-Year-Old Open Western Pleasure Limited Champion was Carmen Mayabb with Shes A Perfect Storm winning $286.88 for Janice Warford. The Reserve Champion was Clint Ainsworth with Superwomann winning $223.13 for John and Beth Mcnichol. Third was Courtney Laney with Simply Lazy winning $127.50 for Rebecca Smiecinski.

The Maturity $10,000 Limited Horse Open Western Pleasure Champion was Aaron Moses with Not Just An Illusion winning $5,760 for Perry Glenn Jackson. The Reserve Champion was Karen Hornick with She Isa Crowdpleaser winning $4,320 for Matthew Main. Third was Cole Baker with She Dresses To Win winning $2,880 for Shannon Fisher.

The Green Hunter Under Saddle Champion was Keith Miller with Blue Sky Enterprise winning $732 for Capall Creek Farm, LLC. The Reserve Champion was Katy Jo Zuidema with Night Shades winning $488 for Natalie Anderson. Third was Vicky Holt Parker with Code Thirty.

The Green Western Riding Champion was Tommy Sheets with Justa Machine winning $299.95 for Angie Watts Schmeck. The Reserve Champion was Whitney Lagace with Huntin Hotty Tottys winning $232.75. Third was Stephanie Armellini with Fortunateson winning $133 for Sheri Kern.

The All Age Non Pro Trail Champion was Sabrina Janis with Cruize winning $263.50. The Reserve Champion was Lisa Mazurka with Invested In Cowboys winning $209.25. Third was Katie Grossnickle with Always Lopin Sober winning $155.

The Select Trail Futurity Champion was Vickie Kent with Won Lopin RV Machine winning $286.88. The Reserve Champion was Scott Reinartz with Investin A Goodbar winning $223.12. Third was Gail Scheller with Mostly Chocolate winning $127.50.

Finally, the 6 and Over Open Trail Champion was Bruce Vickery with Investin A Goodbar winning $566.40 for Scott Reinartz. The Reserve Champion was Torey Roderick with Flashin Allthe Girls winning $389.40. Third was Anthony Montes with Machine Power winning $336.30 for Rebecca Bunting.
