According to research from Yale University, it’s believed that Henry VIII’s erratic behavior may have been the result of traumatic brain injuries sustained during his equestrian pursuits. During one jousting match, a horse fell on top of Henry, which caused him to lose consciousness for two hours. “Historians agree his behavior changed after 1536,’’ Salardini says.

The ApHC looks forward to holding the eleventh Appaloosa National Championship Endurance Ride (ANCER) concurrently with the Arabian Horse Association Distance Nationals. This 50-mile ride is sanctioned by the American Endurance Ride Conference (AERC) and will begin at Frank’s Ranch, 430853 E 220 Rd, Vinita, OK. Registered Appaloosas that are also registered with AHA as half-Arabian may enter both National Championships.

The 2016 Paint Barrel Racing Incentive Program Stallion Service Auction is up and running with breedings available from some of the industry’s top race-bred stallions. The auction, which takes place until March 1 at 6 p.m. CST, raises funds for incentives and PBRIP sidepots for APHA-registered horses competing at select barrel races around the country.
