For Immediate Release – Oklahoma City, Okla. – December 3, 2013 – By Christa Morris – The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Futurity & Adequan® North American Affiliate Championship (NAAC) is edging closer to its final weekend. Today’s show concluded with section two of the second go-round of the nearly $500,000 added NRHA Open Futurity. The show runs through December 7 at Oklahoma State Fair Park in Oklahoma City, Okla. with the third and final section of the second go-round running on Wednesday, December 4.
This year’s NRHA Futurity Open is strong with nearly 1,100 entries in all. Due to this, the Level 4 Open Champion horse will earn $165,000, a $15,000 increase over the guaranteed amount. $156,750 will be paid to the owner and $8,250 will be paid to the nominator of the horse following Saturday night’s finals. This translates to nearly 30 times the initial $300 investment of an NRHA Nomination Program weanling fee.
Footwork Revolution (Einsteins Revolution x Fancy Footwork) and Brian Bell (Hinton, Okla.) improved their first go-round score (221.5) to an impressive 223 in the second go-round. Their composite score of 444.5 is the highest in both the level 4 open and level 3 open divisions. Brian, an NRHA Professional, owns the stallion that has already earned more than $16,400.
Rancho Oso Rio’s Electric Genes (Jacs Electric Spark x Taris Designer Genes) and NRHA Professional Andrea Fappani garnered a 441 composite score after posting a 219.5 in the second go-round. That score put them in the second place position in the level 4 open division. Electric Genes and Fappani were level 4 open division reserve co-champions at the Reining By The Bay Futurity.
Memorable Revolution (Einsteins Revolution x Coronas Affair) and Bell slid into the second place position in the level 3 open division for owner Wagner & Vandorp (Aubrey, Texas). They earned a 219.5 in the first go-round and a 218.5 in the second go-round for a 438 composite score.
