2013 Austrian Futurity Ends With Cody Sapergia As Open Futurity Level 4 Champion

Filed under: Club & Show News |

The 2013 Austrian Futurity ended with great final in the Futurity Open 4-year-old horses with 15 top horses competing in the Level 4. In the end, it was the leader of the go round who claimed the Austrian Futurity Championship: Cody Sapergia and Tari Whizin.

The two received a 225.5 for their great performance – and with this, Austrian breeder Sabine Lisec had her second Austrian Futurity Level 4 Open Champion this year (only a few hours before, Sylvia Rzepka had roder Sabine Lisec’s Start A Revolution to 3-year-old Futurity Champion honours).

“Tari Whizin was doing well all the week,“ said Cody afterwards. “When we entered the arena, he suddenly raised his head taking notice of the big crowd of visitors, and I thought – well, let’s see what happens. But he was great. We loped off, and he was with me all the time. His circles were nice, and the second turn and then his stops… He is such a physical stopper. I was really happy with him! Thank you to Sabine and Chuck for this wonderful horse, to my team and of course to Tina and Klaus from Jacpoint Quarter Horses for their constant support and their fantastic facility!“

Sabine Lisec bought Tari Whizin (Topsail Whiz x Tari Badgekin) in September 2012. Since then, he was trained by Cody who was French Futurity Level 4 Open Co-Champion at the EquitaLyon 2012 with this horse and NRHA European Futurity Open Level 4 Finalist 2013. “I cannot believe it – it is so wonderful,“ said Sabine Lisec., Bernard‘s run was so good – we did not think anybody could top it. And then Cody came – the run was so cool – on a loose rein. I’m so happy we’ve got these two trainers for our horses. I’ve got all the confidence in the world in them.“

The Reserve Futurity Championship Level 4 was earned by four-time NRHA World Champion Open and NRHA Million Dollar Rider Bernard Fonck aboard Little Nic (Wimpys Little Step x Smart Chexy Nic) who scored a 224. With Little Nic owned by Lita Pocock NRHA Million Dollar Rider Bernard Fonck won the Roleski NRHA Novice Horse Open Level 2 at the NRHA European Futurity 2013 and was European Futurity Finalist. Gennaro Lendi (ITA) and Spook Reyns owned Luigi Parise placed third scoring a 223.5.

In the Intermediate Open, the winner was Davide Brighenti aboard My Good Gun (219), who also rode BB One Miracled Gun (One Gun x Arc Chic O Please, owner Mario Cortelletti) to Reserve Futurity Champion honours (218). Adriano Meacci (ITA) and Wimpys Alittlesteper (217) placed third. The two were Limited Open Futurity Champion the day before.

My Good Gun is a Paint stallion by Gunner out of My Paint Wagon owned by Francesco Bonadeo. With this horse, Davide Brighenti was IRHA Derby Level 3 Open Reserve Champion. Brighenti is one of Italy’s top trainers who represented his country in international events many times. He was an FEI European Champion and Reserve Champion and took team gold at the FEI EC 2011.
